In the dark days, before the light of the lips had returned to Ventura County, little is known..........

Once upon a time Rocky Horror was shown in every great theater in this county, Boasting a full casts and show that has become a right of passage for generations. But sadly, as time marched on, the lights had gone dim in the theaters, and the mere mention of a midnight showing brought scoffs and eye rolls from management...... Then, in late 97ish, a small art theatre on a whim booked the once forgotten cult classic. The Rocky Horror Picture Show was brought back to Ventura County. Upon hearing this news, our producer Dr. Shocker went to see the show. But once he reached the theatre he discovered, much to his terror, that no cast had been formed to accompany this production and lead the crowd in "call outs". Not wanting to see the fans and virgins of Ventura County miss out on the unique experience that a cast delivers, the good doctor performed the entire movie SOLO, with an occasional warm body. Later that morning, he discussed with the management the chance to properly perform the show with a full cast. This was a opportunity to not only bring a great show to the masses, but to give future generations something that might have been only know to them through muffled whispers of their parents. Dr. Shocker's Joy and determination soon turned to panic upon realizing he had no actual cast members handy, he noted that most of the people who were as passionate about this show as he was had only seen the movie once or twice. But with his own experience, he knew he could mold this rag tag bunch of novice into a cast that could offer the theatre patrons a show worth the time and money they would be shilling out. He returned to the theatre the following night with a cast pulled from the vast reaches of the county, and the Camarillo State Institutional Players were born. After a regular run at the theatre, things started to get rough. This, combined with poor sales, caused the theatre to reconsider their monthly showing. Soon the cast was in search of a new home. Finding a welcoming staff and relaxed ambiance at the Majestic Ventura Theatre, the good doctor and his cast decided to call it home. And with their new home, a permanent name for the cast was needed, and Seeing as how all the members at the time either worked or hung out at a coffeehouse, Dr. Shocker decided their new cast name would reflect their caffeinated existence not to mention his comic book hero Too Much Coffee Man.

The TooMuchCoffeeCast was born.....

With their new name a some changes were adopted. After a few performances it was apparent that the audience responded better to creativity and a more off the cuff style show, rather than the stuffy film accurate " by the book" Performances offered in other parts of southern California. After some time the cast had began to solidify their own style and brand of "Shadow Casting", But unfortunately storm clouds were on the horizon. At that point in time The Ventura Theater was a rest stop for the cast, not yet its final destination. With heavy heart the cast began the difficult task of finding a home. They returned to the Camarillo theater where it all began, doing a few shows, but it did not hold the same feeling for them . The cast was beginning to feel beaten and it looked as if they would never find the right venue. Then one day a lucky chance dropped Dr. Shocker on the doorstep of the Channel Island Cinemas. The once Carriage Square housed Rocky in the 80's, and they were not only willing but excited to allow the cast to perform. Only hitch was the theatre owner, he had to give final permission. Since he had also owned the Camarillo theater they began life in , a hush fell across the cast … The theatre owner agreed and with open arms brought the cast to Oxnard. Unfortunately fate had another card to deal to this cast, the theatre was placed on the chopping block for demolition, the once great playhouse leveled and the cast dreams nearly destroyed with it. Things beagn to look bleak for the cast, homeless and running out of options they scoured the county finding only major theatre chains, who only laughed at the thought of showing some "old movie that no one cared about". It seemed the lips had sang for the last time. then a good friend of the doctor's suggested a small film promoter showing classic movies every Thursday Night as direction to go. Dr. Shocker met with him and it was a match made in heaven, Insomniac Cinemas was showing out of a second run theater owned by the same company as our previous theaters and loved the idea. So for a few years the cast had found Temporary repave at the Regency BuenaVentura 6.But with success comes controversy, and much like Lenny Bruce being persecuted because of the things he said on stage, the cast was halted due to the ludeness of the preshow , the cast had become homeless once again. Not wanting to be kept down the TooMuchCoffeeCast pulled some strings, called in favors, and Finally found their forever home at the Majestic Ventura Theater. Join Ventura County's Lewdest Rocky cast at the The Majestic Ventura Theater. And Yes the Bar will be Open.  We will see you at the next showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show starring.....
